8-12-25   THOUGHTS

We contemplate LIFE GIVING LIGHT this morning.  The WORD idea begins the discussion.
Darkness is contrasted with light in that it didn’t understand it.  LIGHT and BELIEF  are connected.  The TRUE LIGHT ENLIGHTENS every man!  Jesus makes one more connection in His early teaching...  Matt 5:14   "You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden;”.    We are made a vital part of God’s plan!  Ours is to pass on the LIFE GIVING LIGHT!

John 1:1-9    In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2  He was in the beginning with God. 3  All things came into being through Him, and apart from Him nothing came into being that has come into being.  4  In Him was life, and the life was the Light of men.  5  The Light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it. 6  There came a man sent from God, whose name was John. 7  He came as a witness, to testify about the Light, so that all might believe through him. 8  He was not the Light, but he came to testify about the Light. 9  There was the true Light which, coming into the world, enlightens every man.

A Prayer:
O Lord, we know that light overcomes darkness.  Help us to be a vital part of that process.  Thank You, O God, for life giving light.  May we shine forth the light of Christ to a desperately needy  world.  May our washing of feet teach the greedy and arrogant.  May our teaching of Christ bring this world to its knees before Your throne, O God.  May it bring us to our knees.
